A music band with more than 100 years of existence

A BAND OF MUSIC WITH MORE THAN 100 YEARS OF HISTORY.

Brief relate.

The first documentary mention about the existence of a band in Villanueva de Gállego dates back to 1877 when the "local orchestra" was summoned to liven up the local patron festivities in a plenary session of the City Council. His first known director was Jose Orobia around 1897. It is known about the continuity of this group that on October 19, 1912 he won the first prize of the Music Band Contest "Fiestas del Pilar" in Zaragoza, a success he repeated at the Contest of 1917 with a consolation prize, both times under the direction of Evaristo Bernal Gracia. Until 1936, there were two music bands in the town, one municipal and another private with an acting contract at Casino Unión Villanovense. During the postwar period and until the sixties of the twentieth century there continued to be an increasingly residual group, until its demise. In 1981 D. Jesús Peralta Macaya arrives, musician and professor of the public school, Pintor Pradilla of the town. After eight months of intense work, he managed to take to the street in the local festivities, on May 15, 1982 a formation of 53 musicians under the denomination "Musical Union of Villanueva de Gállego", which began to participate in numerous meetings and in contests of community bands. From 1987 and until 2005, the direction passes to D. Andrés LLopis Marco, native of Xàtiva (Valencia) with him, the Musical Union of Villanueva de Gállego will participate in the XII National Contest of Bands of Music "Villa de Leganés", being in third position, besides participating in numerous meetings of bands, participated in the constitution and signing of the Twinning between the municipality of Villanueva de Gállego and the French municipality of Pavie. From 2005 until 2010 Take over from the direction of the Musical Union, Mr. Fernando Parrilla Climent, from Alzira (Valencia) and under his baton is recorded the CD "Doce Lágrimas" focused on Holy Week, continuing with this form the musical tradition of accompanying the Brotherhood of Jesus of Humility since 1998, as well as the Brotherhood of Prayer in the Garden since 2003, (both of Zaragoza capital). It continues participating in contests, like the National of Bands of Huesca in the year 2007, being in second place. In the year 2010 the Musical Union of Villanueva de Gállego, decides to make a change in the direction, and this, falls to D. Vicente Murillo Puig, native of Polinyà de Xúquer (Valencia) current teacher of the School of Band Music created in September 2015, which has been very well received. On April 13, he performed a charity concert in favor of the Parkinson Aragón Association together with the Coral Zaragoza CAI, the Banda de Gaitas de Boto Aragonesas, and José Luis Urben, a concert that took place in the Sala Mozart of the Zaragoza Auditorium. On December 15, 2013, the Musical Union, held a Christmas / Aragonese concert to benefit the Talita Aragón Foundation. The concert took place at the Teatro de las Esquinas. The Musical Union of Villanueva de Gállego, has risen for the third consecutive year with the 1st Prize in the parade of Mochas Marches in the Festival of Moors and Christians of Lleida festival that takes place in May. The winning years being 2012, 2013 and 2014 showing a high level in this type of festivities. In June 2013, at the request of its director, Vicente Murillo, and the unconditional support of its Board of Directors, the "Band of Educandos Unión Musical de Villanueva de Gállego" was created, in order that the youngest can be trained as musicians before giving the jump to the Musical Union. Currently, it is formed by 18 instrumentalists, performing concerts in the town, as well as exchanges between different music schools. On June 4, 2016, he organizes, in Villanueva de Gállego, a charity concert in favor of Diego Alcañiz Fernandez, in which eight bands from the provinces of Zaragoza and Teruel participated, and which was called "Solidarity Bands"
